Official Guide Identity

Born and raised in Athens—the city where ideas of democracy and civic life first emerged—Filippos has devoted his life to exploring how history, storytelling, and place come together. He studied Political Studies and International Law at Panteion University of Athens and obtained a postgraduate degree in History and Philosophy at the University of Athens, while his lifelong fascination with ancient theatre led him to formal training in acting at the Athens Conservatoire Theatre School and postgraduate studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.

His work with ancient drama deepened his understanding of Classical civilization as a living expression of social values, political thought, and human experience. Drawn by a love for both culture and people, Filippos returned to Athens to study at the Athens School of Licensed Guides, earning the qualification to guide in archaeological sites and museums throughout Greece.

As a guide, he combines historical insight with a storyteller’s sensibility, creating tours that feel engaging, thoughtful, and alive. Having worked for many years with English-speaking travelers—particularly visitors from the United States— and touring companies offering immersive experiences to their guests, such as Rick Steves Europe and Road Scholar, he is skilled at making Greece’s layered past accessible and meaningful. Alongside antiquity, he introduces guests to Byzantine, Ottoman, and contemporary Greece, offering a rich and immersive experience of the country as it is today.
